The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robinson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rhat sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Robinson somewhat. Robinson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rhat decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Rhat is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rhat wants to work for an arm triangle but Robinson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rhat looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Robinson is defending against the submission attempts here by Rhat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhat controlling the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rhat seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Robinson for as long as he can get away with. Rhat passes to full mount! Rhat controlling from mount. Rhat moves to the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhat working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Robinson is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Rhat has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Robinson taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jim Rhat! Jim Rhat bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
