This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Ben Stone! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Mike Dux! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Dux gets caught napping as Stone dives in and scores a takedown. Dux manages to retain guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Stone (2) vs (0) Dux Dux working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Stone has passed into half guard!
Stone is trying to control. Dux wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dux tries to roll over but Stone keeps him under control. Stone wants to take a breather but Dux is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dux is trying to maintain the position but Stone is very close to passing his half guard. Dux tries to get to full guard but Stone has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dux is concentrating on defense, preventing Stone from advancing position. Stone stalling away here and it's allowed Dux to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Stone has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Stone wants to pass the guard but Dux is keeping the position. Dux keeping moving, preventing Stone from controlling successfully. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dux is pulling down on Stone's head to control his posture. Dux is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stone defends well. Dux pushes a forearm under Stone's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Stone is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
