PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terrance Graves (ranked 1888 p4p, 1930 weight class) and Ralph Hall (ranked 249 p4p, 256 weight class). Hall comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Pinball Wizard kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ralph Hall is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terrance Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ralph Hall!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Graves manages to avoid it.
Hall throws a poor cross that misses
and Graves counters with a straight right hand.
Graves lands a front kick.
Hall connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Graves's hands.
Hall moves out of range as Graves strikes.
Hall darts in looking for a takedown but Graves gets double underhooks and turns Hall into the cage.
A lazy left from Hall finds it's target.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hall crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Graves - the referee stops the clock and Hall gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Graves. Hall manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Hall is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Graves doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hall.

Ralph Hall dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hall lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Hall fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Graves manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Graves uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hall. Graves does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hall checks a leg kick.
Hall will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Graves seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
A bone on bone clash there as Hall blocks the leg kick.

Sloppy strikes from Hall. Those never looked like landing.
Hall shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Graves counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Ralph Hall has been cut.
Graves lands with a nice body punch.
Hall ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Graves thuds his right hand into Hall's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hall throws a lazy right hand but Graves sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hall shoots in for a takedown but Graves shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Terrance Graves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ralph Hall.
Graves connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hall's hands.
Hall misses the jab.
Hall throws a lazy right hand but Graves sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Graves was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall.
Hall throws a body shot but no joy.
Graves swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Graves just misses with a punch to the body.
Graves throws a chopping leg kick but Hall manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Graves misses with a body kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hall misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Graves looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Hall darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Graves bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Graves throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hall changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Graves gets caught napping as Hall dives in and scores a takedown. Graves manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall stopping the sweep attempt from Graves.
Graves is pulling down on Hall's head. It's preventing any offense from Hall, at least for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hall drops back, looking for a kneebar! Graves looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Graves looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Graves!

Graves lands a decent elbow from side control.
Hall is not content to let Graves control the position.
Hall is looking to regain half guard here but Graves keeps moving and retains side control.
Graves tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hall gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Ground and pound from Graves.

Graves wants to control but Hall is keeping him busy.

Hall is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Graves pulls his head out easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Terrance Graves will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ralph Hall's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Hall avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Graves paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Graves circles away from the clinch attempt
and Graves cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hall throws a lazy uppercut
and Graves counters with a slapping leg kick.
Graves scores with a jab. Hall acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Hall is rocked!
Graves misses with a low kick.
Hall is still on wobbly legs! Can Graves finish him?
Hall moves out of range of the body kick.
Hall lands a body shot.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Graves as he avoids it easily.
Hall seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Graves has time to react.
Graves lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Graves swings and misses with a hook to the body.
