Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mason Rua (ranked 5649 p4p, 24795 weight class) and Dave Lummer (ranked 586 p4p, 662 weight class). Dave Lummer is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mason Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Lummer! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua lands with a cross. Lummer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rua circles away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Lummer. Rua catches Lummer with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Rua shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lummer napping and manages to drive through into side control! Lummer regains half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rua controlling the action here. Lummer is doing well to control the position and prevent Rua from advancing to side control. Lummer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rua is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lummer defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lummer sees it coming and defends easily. Lummer trying to control here.
Lummer tries to get to full guard but Rua has control of the leg. Rua throwing shots but Lummer is blocking nicely. Lummer has his hands clasped together around Rua's back. He's all about the action. Rua not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Rua is working for a submission of some sort.
Well, if Rua is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rua seems to be working for a kimura but Lummer defends the submission attempt. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Rua is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lummer defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lummer has hold of Rua's hands but Rua slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Rua definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Lummer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lummer. Rua knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lummer on the ground. Rua with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Rua has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lummer wants to sweep but no luck. Rua postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lummer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rua, into his guard. Rua utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lummer working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rua is pulling down on Lummer's head. It's preventing any offense from Lummer, at least for the moment. Rua working a defensive guard here.
Lummer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Rua has his foot on Lummer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lummer works his way back into a safe position though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lummer stands and steps away. Rua gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Rua looks to land a right hand but Lummer moved out of range. Lummer tries to counter with a clinch but Rua shakes him off and moves away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Mason Rua dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Lummer lands a body shot.
Lummer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lummer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rua. Lummer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lummer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rua counters with a lovely shot to the body. Lummer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rua circles away quickly and effectively. Rua throws an off balance right hand
and Lummer counters with a left and a right that stings Rua. Rua misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rua shoots in for a takedown but Lummer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rua clinches. Rua manages to break the clinch.
Lummer cracks Rua with an open hand slap.
It looks like Mason Rua has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Rua swings for the body but Lummer moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lummer lands with a cross.
Rua is rocked! Lummer throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rua counters with a straight right hand. Oh Rua is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lummer swinging wildly here.
Rua seems to have got his legs back now. Lummer throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Lummer darts in looking for a takedown but Rua gets double underhooks and turns Lummer into the cage. Lummer is breathing heavily. Lummer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rua throwing a counter right hand but Lummer manages to avoid it. Rua scores with a takedown into Lummer's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rua with a flurry of punches that miss. Rua throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lummer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua throwing strikes from guard but Lummer blocks nicely. Rua postures up.
Rua working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rua postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lummer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rua, into his guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lummer passes Rua's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lummer trying to control from half guard but Rua is working away. Mason Rua overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lummer is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rua defends it well. Lummer stops Rua from getting back to his feet.

Rua is trying to get back to full guard. Lummer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rua with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Lummer working Rua over with strikes. Lummer working over Rua with some ground and pound. Rua looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lummer seems to be working for a kimura but Rua defends the submission attempt. Lummer wants to pass the guard but Rua is defending well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Lummer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Mason Rua's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Rua throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lummer gets in close and tags Rua with a short punch that almost sends Rua to the mat! Oh Rua is in big trouble! He turns his back on Lummer, trying to create some distance but Lummer rushes him, striking wildly and Rua goes down! The referee tackles Lummer into the cage to end the fight! Lummer is one violent man!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Lummer!
