PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Pinkman (ranked 790 p4p, 1540 weight class) and Pate Murhapuro (ranked 116 p4p, 209 weight class). Pinkman's entrance music is DLZ by TV on the Radio. A fine choice. Jesse Pinkman had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesse Pinkman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pate Murhapuro!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murhapuro steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pinkman.
Murhapuro tries to clinch there but Pinkman circles away.
Pinkman fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Murhapuro on the side of the head.
Murhapuro scores with a one two! Pinkman had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Murhapuro is looking to clinch.
Pinkman throws a jab when Murhapuro was well out of range.
Murhapuro tries to clinch up but Pinkman circles away and keeps his distance.
Pinkman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murhapuro sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Murhapuro tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pinkman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pinkman works the jab nicely.
Pinkman fails to land the takedown.
Pinkman lands a jab to Murhapuro's midsection.
Murhapuro walks into a straight right hand from Pinkman.
Murhapuro tries to close the distance and clinch but Pinkman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Murhapuro lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A slow jab from Murhapuro misses its intended target.

Pinkman shoots in for a double leg but Murhapuro sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Murhapuro tries to close the distance and clinch but Pinkman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pinkman thuds a left hand into Murhapuro's body.
Murhapuro doesn't manage to clinch there - Pinkman circles away.
Murhapuro scores with a three punch combo!
Murhapuro takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Pinkman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pinkman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Murhapuro moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Pinkman connects with a looping right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pinkman bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Pate Murhapuro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pinkman looks to throw the jab but Murhapuro is out of range.
Murhapuro takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Pinkman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murhapuro.
Pinkman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pinkman looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Pinkman throws the left hand but Murhapuro avoids the punch easily.
Murhapuro looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Pate Murhapuro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Murhapuro avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Pinkman throws a right hand that misses

and Murhapuro counters by clinching up.

Murhapuro has a couple of punches blocked by Pinkman.

Pinkman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Murhapuro defends it easily.
Pinkman is striking from the bottom but Murhapuro uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Murhapuro not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pinkman is looking to control Murhapuro's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pinkman avoid being mounted?
Pinkman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Murhapuro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pinkman keeps working.
Pinkman wants to control but Murhapuro is keeping busy.
Murhapuro is taking a breather. Pinkman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pinkman is trying to get back to full guard.

Murhapuro is trying to control. Pinkman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Pinkman manages to get to full guard.
Murhapuro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pinkman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pinkman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Pinkman dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Murhapuro fails to land with a series of punches.

Murhapuro has managed to clinch.

Pinkman lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Murhapuro is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Pinkman lands a right hand that snaps the head of Murhapuro backwards.
Murhapuro prevents the takedown attempt.
Pinkman misses with a punch to the body.
Murhapuro wants to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pinkman has clasped his hands together around Murhapuro's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Pinkman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Murhapuro rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pinkman's guard! Nice work there by Murhapuro!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pinkman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Murhapuro doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Murhapuro manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pinkman tries to hold on but Murhapuro pushes him away.

Pinkman is looking to control Murhapuro's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pinkman avoid being mounted?

Murhapuro slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Pinkman working for a triangle but Murhapuro defends it easily.

Murhapuro has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pinkman to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Murhapuro is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pinkman pulls down on the head and he's put Murhapuro to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jesse Pinkman!
Jesse Pinkman tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
