PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles Greene (ranked 4115 p4p, 156 weight class) and Richard Hall (ranked 384 p4p, 24 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Charles Greene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Hall!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Greene misses the target.

Hall clinches.
Greene tries to break free but Hall pushes him back against the cage.
The referee calls for Hall to work.
Greene blocks an uppercut.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Hall tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Greene smiles and moves away.
Greene rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Hall counters with a single leg into guard. Greene didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall controlling from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall preventing the sweep.
Hall advances position into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Greene's shoulder. That is not cool.
Greene stops Hall from passing to mount.
Hall is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Greene has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Hall tries to advance to mount but can't.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Hall wants to control but Greene is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Greene is looking for a sweep.
Hall has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Greene!
Hall fails to advance to Greene's back.
Greene wants to control but Hall is having none of it.
Hall controlling from the full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Greene wants to hold on but Hall pushes him away.
Greene keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hall sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hall fails to move to back control.
Hall looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hall is looking to work his way around to Greene's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Greene stops Hall from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Hall controlling from the full mount.
Greene on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Greene tries to get out of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Greene is working to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Hall dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Hall holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Greene stalling in the clinch but Hall improves position.
Hall tries a body shot but Greene blocks it.

Hall manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Greene taking a breather.
Hall throws a head punch that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall pulls guard effortlessly.
Greene wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
Greene tries to free his leg and advance position but Hall is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hall looking for a guillotine here but Greene defends easily.
Hall is trying to control the position but Greene postures up.
Greene has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hall looking for a triangle here. Greene is fighting it but it looks tight! Hall pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Greene is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Richard Hall!
After the fight, Richard Hall was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
