Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jesus Salazaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stevo Caruga!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caruga darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Caruga seems to be working for a kimura but Salazaro defends the submission attempt.
Salazaro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Caruga is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caruga is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Salazaro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Caruga on the ground.
Caruga is looking for a kimura but Salazaro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Caruga to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Caruga in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Salazaro tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Caruga!
