Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 2, fighting out of New York, Rikkard Hanson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malachi Lawrence!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanson with a poor takedown
so Lawrence counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hanson has his foot on Lawrence's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lawrence works his way back into a safe position though.
Lawrence trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hanson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hanson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lawrence makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lawrence is working Hanson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lawrence controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lawrence got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hanson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lawrence has managed to get both his arms back between Hanson's legs - danger averted.
Lawrence is in close to Hanson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lawrence is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawrence stands and throws Hanson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lawrence is putting a hurting on Hanson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Hanson is rocked!
Hanson is looking to regain half guard here but Lawrence keeps moving and retains side control.
Oh Hanson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lawrence cracks Hanson with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Lawrence immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Hanson is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Lawrence!
