This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 46 wins and 31 losses; George Arias! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 42 wins and 32 losses; Rolf Ottke! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Arias drives through with a takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Arias (2) vs (0) Ottke Ottke is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Arias controls from within his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arias trying to control the position from guard on top but Ottke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ottke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Arias not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arias trying to control but Ottke is working from the bottom. Arias has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Ottke is trying to keep Arias in close.

Arias sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ottke's guard. Ottke is looking for a sweep. Arias is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Arias wants to free his trapped foot but Ottke is holding on for dear life with his legs. Arias content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Arias stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ottke swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ottke pulls Arias in close to his closed guard and prevents Arias from doing any damage or advancing position. Arias trying to control the position from guard on top but Ottke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Arias is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ottke is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ottke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Arias does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ottke is taking a breather. Arias says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Arias is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ottke is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! It looks like Ottke might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
