This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 20 losses; Ceph Alopodis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 23 wins and 18 losses; Koryu Miyagi!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Miyagi has Alopodis up against the cage in a clinch.
Miyagi can't get the takedown.
Alopodis is trying to pull guard but Miyagi turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Miyagi tightens his grip and picks Alopodis up, before dumping him to the ground. Alopodis manages to land in guard.

Alopodis throws his legs up looking for a submission but Miyagi uses it to pass to side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Miyagi wants to take his opponent's back but Alopodis doesn't allow it.
Alopodis is wriggling around trying to escape.
Alopodis is squirming around, avoiding Miyagi's attempts to control the action.

Alopodis is trying to escape the mount but Miyagi keeps good control and instead manages to take Alopodis's back.

Miyagi has the hooks in. Alopodis is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Alopodis is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Miyagi just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Alopodis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miyagi is just riding it out for now. Alopodis eventually gives up the hold.

We've been hearing that Alopodis has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Miyagi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alopodis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Miyagi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alopodis pulls his head out easily.

Miyagi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Alopodis is looking to pass to full mount but he's left his head exposed in the process. Miyagi has locked up a guillotine and regained full guard. He's really cranking on it - this could be the end! Is it? Is it? No... YES! YES! He's tapped! I didn't think he was going to get it there for a minute but he did! Well done Miyagi! He waited for his chance and took it!
