Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askrew (ranked 4699 p4p, 23942 weight class) and Alexander Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Askrew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Petrov!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov lands with a hook. Askrew tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Petrov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A head kick by Petrov misses

and Askrew counters with a shoot takedown. Petrov fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petrov thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Askrew postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Petrov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Askrew, into his guard.

Askrew has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petrov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Askrew escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Petrov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Petrov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Petrov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Askrew has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Petrov has managed to get both his arms back between Askrew's legs - danger averted.

Petrov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Askrew is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Petrov defends well.
Petrov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Petrov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Petrov is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Askrew has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Petrov is looking to defend but Askrew has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Petrov! Askrew pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Petrov taps out and this one is all over!
