Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gord Ryan (ranked 3099 p4p, 2673 weight class) and Kin Okuma (ranked 413 p4p, 357 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gord Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kin Okuma!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan misses with a hook.
Okuma wants to land a leg kick but Ryan is out of range.
Ryan swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Okuma throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Okuma tries a head kick but it misses.
Kin Okuma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan lands a nice looking body shot.
Okuma scores with the left hand. Ryan knows he should have avoided that one.
Ryan lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Okuma misses with a hook

and Ryan counters with a nice right hand that sends Okuma toppling to the canvas! Okuma scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Ryan finish him?!

Okuma is rocked!

It looks like Kin Okuma has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ryan lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Okuma up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Ryan from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Okuma's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gord Ryan!
