The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita feints and as Cummings raises his hands in defense, Mesquita changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cummings has his foot on Mesquita's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mesquita works his way back into a safe position though.

Cummings wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mesquita is now in half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mesquita lands a nice short elbow.

Mesquita looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cummings with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mesquita lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Mesquita slips a nice elbow through Cummings's hands, connecting with Cummings's forehead.
Oh Cummings is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mesquita lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Cummings quite badly. Cummings pulls Mesquita in close trying to recover. Mesquita postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Cummings on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Cummings doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
