PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lord Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vader comes into the arena with Sweep the Leg blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lord Vader! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Wells! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wells moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Lord Vader has been cut. Vader throws a looping overhand right but Wells ducks down to avoid it. Vader is looking to clinch but Wells is avoiding it.
Vader lands a lovely overhand right. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wells keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Vader swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Wells fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Wells scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Wells tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vader was well out of range. Poor timing from Wells. Wells wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Vader swings away with a body shot that misses
and Wells counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wells misses with a body shot.
Vader ducks under a wild hook from Wells. Vader misses the shot to the body. Wells is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Vader rather than just go for the knockout. The fighters circle momentarily. Vader darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Vader takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Vader is breathing heavily. Wells swings for the body but Vader moves out of range.
Vader scores with a decent looking hook. Vader avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Wells lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This has been an exciting period of action! Vader wants to clinch but Wells slips to the side and Wells counters with a left and a right that stings Vader.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Wells.
Wells misses with a body shot.
A jab from Wells does it's job there. Vader throws a jab but it's blocked by Wells. Wells lands a big uppercut and Vader crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Vader looks OK. Wells waves Vader back to his feet! Wells throws a sloppy body shot
and Vader counters with a stiff right hand. Wells tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vader was well out of range. Poor timing from Wells. Vader takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Vader drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vader doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Wells connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Vader! He's out on his feet! Wells rushes in and drops Vader with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Chris Wells!
