PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Perov Yelisey (ranked 24583 p4p, 4052 weight class) and Mason Miller (ranked 473 p4p, 362 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Yelisey on his heels. He'll look to pass Yelisey's guard now, I'm sure.
Yelisey on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Yelisey tries to get out of the position.

Miller looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yelisey has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Miller is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Yelisey.
Miller remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Yelisey is looking to regain half guard here but Miller keeps moving and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miller has hold of Yelisey's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Yelisey tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Miller cranks the arm and Yelisey screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Yelisey, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

In his post fight interview, Mason Miller started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
