PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Abasi Njagi (ranked 4559 p4p, 4554 weight class) and Naoya Inoue (ranked 238 p4p, 237 weight class). Njagi's entrance music is The Game - Name Me King (Feat. Pusha T). A fine choice. Abasi Njagi has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Abasi Njagi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Naoya Inoue! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Inoue misses with a double jab
and Njagi counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Inoue! Njagi has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Inoue is trying to buck Njagi off. Inoue looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Njagi has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Inoue is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Njagi yanks on the arm and Inoue is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Njagi.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Abasi Njagi!
