PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tobias Berge (ranked 953 p4p, 1348 weight class) and Eric Jacquin (ranked 133 p4p, 183 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacquin feints and as Berge raises his hands in defense, Jacquin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Berge has his foot on Jacquin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jacquin works his way back into a safe position though.
Berge seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Jacquin stands and throws Berge's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Berge walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jacquin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Nice sprawl there from Jacquin as Berge shoots in.

Jacquin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jacquin holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jacquin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Berge manages to get himself to full guard.

Jacquin felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Tobias Berge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Jacquin.

Jacquin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Berge tries to avoid it but Jacquin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Berge to the ground. Berge escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Berge is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jacquin defends well.

Berge working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jacquin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jacquin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tobias Berge.
I think Jacquin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
