Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Silva (ranked 2967 p4p, 3174 weight class) and Vic Barnes (ranked 89 p4p, 114 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva throws a jab but it's blocked by Barnes.
Silva cracks Barnes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Silva scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Barnes doesn't seem bothered though.

Silva has hold of one of Barnes's legs. Barnes is fighting the takedown attempt but Silva gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Barnes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barnes bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Silva is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Alpha Brasil that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Barnes is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Barnes looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Silva lands a nice short elbow.

Silva lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Barnes quite badly. Barnes pulls Silva in close trying to recover. Silva postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Barnes on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Barnes doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Silva!
A relieved looking Alex Silva thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
