PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gillechriosd McCoy (ranked 398 p4p, 203 weight class) and Lesley Dancer (ranked 57 p4p, 29 weight class). Lesley Dancer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gillechriosd McCoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lesley Dancer!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dancer lands a slapping body shot.
Dancer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McCoy was well out of range. Poor timing from Dancer.
Dancer throws a shot from downtown. McCoy moves away and avoids it.
Dancer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
McCoy takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

McCoy darts in and clinches Dancer up against the cage.

McCoy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McCoy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

McCoy working for a triangle but Dancer defends it easily.

McCoy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dancer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dancer gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dancer just misses with a punch to the body.
Dancer circles away from the clinch attempt
and Dancer counters with a left to the body.
Dancer looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Gillechriosd McCoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McCoy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McCoy is trying to pull guard but Dancer turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

McCoy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McCoy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Dancer wants to stand but McCoy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCoy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McCoy tries to get out of the position.

McCoy working for a triangle but Dancer defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dancer got a little sloppy there for a moment and McCoy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dancer has managed to get both his arms back between McCoy's legs - danger averted.
Dancer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCoy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McCoy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCoy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McCoy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dancer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McCoy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dancer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dancer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dancer wants to stand but McCoy is controlling his posture from full guard.

McCoy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McCoy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dancer tries to stand but McCoy is controlling from the bottom.
McCoy pulls Dancer in close to prevent any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gillechriosd McCoy will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dancer misses with a left hand

and McCoy moves into the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dancer.

Dancer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McCoy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dancer.
McCoy is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Dancer thuds a left hand into McCoy's body.
Dancer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McCoy wants to clinch
and Dancer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCoy tries to clinch
and Dancer counters with a lovely shot to the body.
A jab lands there for Dancer.
Dancer circles away from the clinch attempt
and McCoy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

McCoy is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dancer lunges in with a left hook that violently twists McCoy head around and knocks him out cold! Dancer hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lesley Dancer!
A very excited looking Lesley Dancer made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
