Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buddy Austin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buddy Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Howard!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howard clinches with his opponent.

Howard breaks the clinch.
Howard is looking to clinch but Austin is avoiding it.
Austin shoots in for a double leg but Howard sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Howard fails in his attempt to clinch.

Austin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Austin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Howard is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Austin.

Howard decides to stand back up. Howard steps back and let's Austin get back to his feet.
Howard doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Austin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Howard won't be happy with that.

Austin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Howard tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Austin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Howard, who protects the arm well.
The ground and pound from Austin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Austin misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Austin is trying to get an arm triangle but Howard is defending well.
Austin trying to control the position but Howard is working away.
Austin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Austin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Howard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Austin is breathing heavily.
Howard is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Austin is controlling him well.
Howard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Austin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Austin decides to stand back up. Austin steps back and let's Howard get back to his feet.
Howard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Austin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Austin is looking for a kimura but Howard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Austin to get the leverage.
Austin trying to control the action but Howard is working from the bottom.

Austin is working for a submission of some sort.

Austin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Austin trying to control from half guard but Howard is working away.
Howard wants to get back to his feet.
Austin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Howard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Howard throws a right and a left that Austin avoids nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Austin with a lazy takedown attempt

and Howard counters with a takedown into side control.
Howard is looking to take a break and control but Austin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Austin can't do much from the bottom here.
Howard postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Austin throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Howard drives through with a takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Howard lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Howard throws a big right hand that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Buddy Austin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Howard thows a huge punch but Austin dodges it nicely.
Howard wants to stand but Austin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Austin actively working from the bottom here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Howard lands a nice short elbow.
Howard wants to stand up but Austin has a hold of him and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Howard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Austin counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Austin drops back looking for a leg! Howard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Howard manages to kick Austin off! Austin jumps back into Howard's guard.
Howard keeping moving, preventing Austin from controlling successfully.
Austin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Howard has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Austin has passed into side control.
Austin trying to control the action but Howard is working from the bottom.

Austin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Howard is trying to get back to his feet.
Austin throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Austin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Austin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Austin tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Howard wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Howard being controlled for a moment.
Austin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Howard!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Austin looking to isolate an arm here. Howard doesn't see it coming and as Austin extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Austin!
