Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rory Reynolds (ranked 4459 p4p, 4258 weight class) and George Starling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Starling is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rory Reynolds !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George Starling!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reynolds has closed the distance and engaged Starling in a clinch.
Reynolds wants to break the clinch but can't.
Starling wants to take the fight to the mat but Reynolds manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Starling drops down looking for an ankle pick but Reynolds pulls his leg out and moves away.

Reynolds dives in and scores a takedown into Starling's guard.
Starling wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Reynolds manages to pass to side control.

Starling taking some punishment here, with Reynolds in his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reynolds seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Starling for as long as he can get away with.

Reynolds lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reynolds 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Starling trying to hold on to Reynolds 's head to control him but Reynolds postures up.

Starling is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reynolds pulls his head out easily.
Starling wants to get back to his feet.

Reynolds is working for a kimura but Starling is defending it quite comfortably.
Starling really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reynolds . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reynolds is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Reynolds is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Starling is just riding it out for now. Reynolds eventually gives up the hold.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Starling has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reynolds is working away from the top position though.
Reynolds wants to pass to mount but Starling is defending the position.
Still in half guard, Reynolds seems content to control.
Reynolds is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Starling trying to hold on to Reynolds 's head to control him but Reynolds postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Reynolds misses with a leg kick.
Reynolds gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Starling counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rory Reynolds dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Starling fails with a takedown attempt.
Starling shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reynolds sprawls well. Reynolds wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Starling gets slowly back to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Starling can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Starling tries a head kick but it misses.
Starling gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Reynolds counters with a shoot takedown. Starling fights it but they end up in guard.
Rory Reynolds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Starling.
Starling is trying to control the position but Reynolds postures up.
Reynolds scoring with punches to the head and body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reynolds stands up over Starling, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Reynolds stands up and waves to Starling to follow him.
Starling lands a two punch combo.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Starling gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Reynolds is working to tighten his grip on Starling's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Starling has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Reynolds is really squeezing tight and eventually Starling passes out! Reynolds breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
