The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapierre cracks Fjordlinginsson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Lapierre cracks Fjordlinginsson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Lapierre dips to his left and cracks Fjordlinginsson with an uppercut!
Lapierre throws out a powerful jab.
Lapierre slaps away a takedown attempt from Fjordlinginsson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fjordlinginsson tries to move into range but Lapierre moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Lapierre dips to his left and cracks Fjordlinginsson with an uppercut!

Lapierre fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Fjordlinginsson to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Fjordlinginsson looks to clinch but Lapierre throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Fjordlinginsson taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Verney Lapierre!
A relieved looking Verney Lapierre thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
