Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thoth Chontamenti (ranked 912 p4p, 1700 weight class) and Thiago Araujo (ranked 122 p4p, 211 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Araujo!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo forces Chontamenti back against the cage and clinches.
A short right from Araujo.
A head punch on the inside from Chontamenti fails to land.
Chontamenti lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Araujo has a couple of punches blocked by Chontamenti.
Chontamenti lands a nice shot to the body.
Chontamenti escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chontamenti throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Araujo stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Chontamenti follows into mount!
It looks like Thiago Araujo has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chontamenti trying to control but Araujo is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Araujo really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Chontamenti is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Araujo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Araujo is trying desperately to improve position.

Chontamenti avoids the attempt from Araujo to control.
Araujo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Araujo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
My spies in Soul Supremacy Rio inform me that Araujo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Chontamenti escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Araujo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chontamenti keeping moving, preventing Araujo from controlling successfully.
Chontamenti will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Araujo looking to sit in guard and control but Chontamenti gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Araujo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chontamenti doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chontamenti manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Chontamenti got a little sloppy there for a moment and Araujo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chontamenti has managed to get both his arms back between Araujo's legs - danger averted.
Araujo wants to control but Chontamenti passes easily into half guard.
Araujo wants to improve his position but Chontamenti is controlling well.
Araujo has a hand on Chontamenti's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Chontamenti takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Chontamenti working for a guillotine from mount but Araujo is in no mood to give up.

Araujo is looking to improve his position but Chontamenti isn't that keen on the idea.
Chontamenti looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Chontamenti trying to control but Araujo is having none of it.

Araujo has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Chontamenti's lack of action.

Araujo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chontamenti pulls his head out easily.
Araujo tries to get to full guard but Chontamenti has control of the leg.
Araujo wants to control but Chontamenti is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Araujo has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Chontamenti. Oh but Araujo has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Chontamenti goes limp - he's gone! Araujo jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
