This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 8 losses; Arthur Menezes! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Diaz wants to clinch up but Menezes keeps it at a distance. Diaz is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Diaz pushes Menezes up against the cage in a clinch. Menezes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Diaz walks away with a smile on his face. Menezes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. This one could be all over! But no, Menezes has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Diaz really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Menezes. Menezes turns into Diaz and is now in his guard.

Menezes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Diaz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Menezes is pushing down on Diaz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diaz is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Menezes is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Menezes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Diaz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Menezes.

My spies in Alpha Brasil inform me that Menezes has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Diaz is looking to control Menezes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diaz avoid being mounted? Menezes is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Diaz tries to get to full guard but Menezes has control of the leg. Menezes maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Diaz could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Menezes has cracked it and Diaz is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Menezes!
