Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Hernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lenny Broadway! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Broadway closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Broadway lands in his opponent's guard. Hernandez has his hands on Broadway's head, controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hernandez keeping moving, preventing Broadway from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hernandez trying to control the position here. Broadway trying to control the position from guard on top but Hernandez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hernandez being controlled here, momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Broadway is fighting to break Hernandez's control of his arms but Hernandez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Hernandez continues to stall.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hernandez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hernandez showed some decent athleticism there.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Hernandez. Well Hernandez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
