PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drippy Joe (ranked 4447 p4p, 4430 weight class) and Jason Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Drippy Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Kidd!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kidd attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Joe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Joe clinches.
Joe throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Joe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Joe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kidd throws a half hearted mid kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice body kick there by Kidd.

Joe shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kidd pushes Joe off but Joe dives into side control.

Joe creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kidd sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Kidd dodges the ground and pound from Joe.

Joe is trying to get an arm triangle but Kidd is defending well.

Joe stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Joe takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Joe scores with a head kick. Kidd tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

It looks like Jason Kidd has been cut.
Joe shoots in and drives through. Kidd sprawls well.
Kidd was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drippy Joe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kidd swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kidd lands a nice leg kick that just misses Joe's sensitive parts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joe has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kidd after a bit of a struggle.
Kidd tries to break free but Joe pushes him back against the cage.

Joe has hold of one of Kidd's legs. Kidd is fighting the takedown attempt but Joe gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Joe seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kidd for as long as he can get away with.

Joe postures up in Kidd's guard and throws a big left but Kidd blocks it.
Joe stands and throws Kidd's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Joe tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kidd's legs.

Joe decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kidd just misses with a punch to the body.
Kidd misses with an attempted mid kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Joe shoots in for a double leg but Kidd sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Kidd gets tackled into the cage by Joe. Joe maintains the clinch.

Joe has his foot on Kidd's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kidd works his way back into a safe position though.

Kidd really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Joe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kidd's guard.

Joe thows a huge punch but Kidd dodges it nicely.

Joe is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Joe takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Joe is working for a submission of some sort.

Joe not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Joe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kidd doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Joe.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kidd tries to get to full guard but Joe has control of the leg.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Joe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kidd can do to turn this around?
Kidd throws a head kick but Joe moves out of range.
Joe misses with a double jab
and Kidd counters with a body kick.
Kidd lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Joe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Joe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Joe throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Joe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
More hug and hope from Joe.
Joe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Joe.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Joe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
