PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Milk Snake (ranked 4334 p4p, 4415 weight class) and Ewgenju Scorfna (ranked 0 p4p, 503 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Milk Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ewgenju Scorfna!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snake tries to close the distance and clinch but Scorfna swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Some wild striking there from Snake.
Snake looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scorfna is fending him off so far but Snake persists. Nope, Scorfna circles away and we're back to standing.
Snake shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Scorfna defends it nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Snake.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Milk Snake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Snake looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snake stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Snake wants it to stay on the feet.
Scorfna avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Snake is looking to clinch but Scorfna is avoiding it.

Snake tests Scorfna's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Snake slaps away a takedown attempt from Scorfna, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Snake misses with a series of wild punches.
And Scorfna tries to counter it with a takedown but Snake pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Snake looks to land a combination. Scorfna sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Scorfna fails with the takedown
and Snake counters with a left and a right that stings Scorfna.

Snake rushes Scorfna and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Scorfna tries for a takedown but Snake manages to get underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scorfna tries to score a body lock takedown but Snake shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Snake prevents the takedown attempt.
Scorfna is trying to drag Snake to the mat but Snake just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Snake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Snake throws a series of punches but Scorfna moves out of range.
Scorfna with the counter takedown but Snake avoids it easily.

Snake shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scorfna pinned against the cage. Scorfna gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Snake looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Scorfna goes for a double leg but Snake avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Snake continues to drive forward.
Snake tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Scorfna defends well and Snake ends up having to push Scorfna into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Scorfna turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Scorfna tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Scorfna has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Scorfna goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Snake rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Scorfna's guard! Nice work there by Snake!

Scorfna is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Snake is aware though and is defending well.
Scorfna is trying to control the position but Snake postures up.
Scorfna looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Scorfna had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Snake defends it easily.
Snake has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Scorfna looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Scorfna is trying to keep Snake in close.

Snake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scorfna has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Snake has managed to get both his arms back between Scorfna's legs - danger averted.
Snake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scorfna on the ground.
Scorfna not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Scorfna wants to sweep here but Snake controlling him for the moment.

Scorfna working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Snake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Scorfna is tightening it up a little... Snake has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Snake reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Snake taps out! Nice BJJ there by Scorfna!
