The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitlock jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Orion is looking for the big counter here.
The fighters circling - Whitlock throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Whitlock works over Orion's head and body with a nice combination.
Whitlock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Orion moves away.
Whitlock backing away here, and Orion unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Orion falls off balance throwing a combination
and Whitlock counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Orion makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Whitlock has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Orion.
Whitlock connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Orion tries to score with a low kick but Whitlock moves his leg out of the way.
A shot to the body from Whitlock misses
and Orion counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Orion pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Orion moves in looking to clinch but Whitlock pushes him off.
A quick step to the side and Whitlock tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Whitlock checks the leg kick nicely there.
Whitlock loads up on a big right hand but Orion slips the punch.
Whitlock ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Whitlock lands with a nice combination. Orion backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Cole Orion has been cut.

Whitlock tries to bum rush Orion with a series of wild strikes but Orion uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Whitlock looks to land a right hand but Orion moved out of range.
Orion pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Orion tries to close the distance and clinch but Whitlock swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Orion throws a body kick that misses.
Whitlock checks the leg kick.
Whitlock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Orion misses with a body kick.
Orion finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Orion needs to keep his hands up - Whitlock had a free shot at his head there.

and Orion takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Whitlock swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Whitlock throws a body punch but Orion moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Whitlock. Those never looked like landing.
Whitlock throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Orion counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Orion throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Whitlock counters with a stiff right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Orion throws a low kick but it's checked well by Whitlock.
The fighters circle momentarily. Whitlock darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Orion steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Whitlock.
Orion feints a counter leg kick.
Whitlock scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Whitlock lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Whitlock throws out a loose jab but Orion uses good head movement to avoid it.

Orion moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

and Whitlock counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Whitlock avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

It looked like Whitlock wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
