The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan darts in looking for a takedown but Carthew gets double underhooks and turns Ryan into the cage.
Ryan has Carthew pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ryan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Carthew tumbling to the mat - Ryan dives into Carthew's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ryan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Carthew really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ryan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ryan cracks Carthew with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Ryan immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Carthew is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Ryan!
