McGuire kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Confederate Railroad - Daddy Never Was The Cadillac Kind. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsuruta lands a jab to the head.
Ralph McGuire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGuire works Tsuruta's body with a nice hook.
Tsuruta lands an overhand right.
McGuire tried to score with a low kick but Tsuruta checks it.
Tsuruta scores with the left hand. McGuire knows he should have avoided that one.
McGuire closes the distance looking to clinch
and Tsuruta connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McGuire throws a jab when Tsuruta was well out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsuruta scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
McGuire throws a leg kick but Tsuruta sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Tsuruta steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from McGuire. That one must have hurt.

It looked like McGuire was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tsuruta.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McGuire lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tsuruta has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tsuruta and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
McGuire moves away from the strike by Tsuruta.
McGuire tried to counter with a leg kick but Tsuruta avoided it.

McGuire throws an overhand right that lands on Tsuruta's shoulder, as Tsuruta tries to avoid the shot.
Tsuruta looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
McGuire on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
McGuire swings for the body but Tsuruta moves out of range.

McGuire closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
An inside leg kick lands from McGuire.
Tsuruta has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Tsuruta scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - McGuire looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tsuruta might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

That was a close round but I would say that Ralph McGuire will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McGuire drops Tsuruta with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Tsuruta looks back up at him and smiles so McGuire waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Tsuruta is rocked!

It looks like Tomomi Tsuruta has been cut.
Tsuruta ducks into an uppercut from McGuire and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
