Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jayson Howard (ranked 6250 p4p, 4506 weight class) and Mario Yamasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jayson Howard could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mario Yamasaki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jayson Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Yamasaki!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard throws a sloppy head kick and Yamasaki moves out of range easily.

Yamasaki has managed to clinch.
Howard tries to break the clinch but Yamasaki is controlling the position.
Howard throws a head punch that misses.
Howard wants to break the clinch but can't.

Yamasaki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yamasaki fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Howard is out of range.

Yamasaki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Yamasaki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Yamasaki controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yamasaki content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Howard is working to avoid the ground and pound but Yamasaki connects with a decent elbow.

Yamasaki is staying tight to Howard's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Yamasaki is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Howard will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Yamasaki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yamasaki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Howard is trying to control Yamasaki's posture but Yamasaki avoids it.

It looks like Yamasaki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Howard tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Yamasaki manages to move to mount!

Yamasaki tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Yamasaki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Mario Yamasaki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Howard is looking to get to half guard.

Yamasaki goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Howard is on top in guard.

Yamasaki is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Yamasaki wants to sweep here but Howard controlling him for the moment.
Yamasaki is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Yamasaki is looking for a triangle but Howard pushes his legs off easily.
Yamasaki has control of Howard's left arm, preventing Howard from doing any damage.
Yamasaki has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yamasaki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Howard is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A head kick misses from Howard.

Yamasaki shoots in and gets a takedown into Howard's guard.

Mario Yamasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Howard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


The fight moves into the clinch position.
A nice left hand lands by Yamasaki.

Yamasaki has picked Howard up - he's going for a ride! Yamasaki dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Yamasaki scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Yamasaki tries to pass the half guard into mount. Howard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Yamasaki slows the pace down in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Yamasaki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Yamasaki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Yamasaki wants to stand but Howard is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Yamasaki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Howard has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Yamasaki has managed to slip his arm under Howard's chin. This could be all over... yep, Howard is tapping out! Submission win for Yamasaki.
