The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rounds closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Durand Jr did well to prevent Rounds getting side control.

Rounds is controlling the pace.
Rounds prevents Durand Jr from standing back up.

Rounds decides to return to a standing position.
Durand Jr throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rounds will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rounds stalks Durand Jr and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Durand Jr's face. Durand Jr staggers backwards, shaken.
Rounds tries for a takedown but Durand Jr sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Durand Jr scores with a body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Durand Jr gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Rounds wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Durand Jr has him pressed against the cage.
Rounds looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rounds is trying to pull guard but Durand Jr turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Rounds is trying to maintain a safe position but Durand Jr gets an underhook and turns Rounds into the cage.
Durand Jr lands a knee to the head.

Jacques Durand Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Rounds.

Rounds breaks the clinch.

Rounds manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Durand Jr on his heels. He'll look to pass Durand Jr's guard now, I'm sure.

Durand Jr wants to stand but Rounds is controlling the position.
Rounds forces his way into half guard.
Rounds stops Durand Jr from getting back to his feet.
Durand Jr pushes Rounds off but Rounds dives into side control.
Durand Jr is pushing Rounds's head away, looking to escape. Rounds manages to hold on to the position though.
Durand Jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rounds on the ground.

Rounds has an Americana. Durand Jr didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Rounds is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rounds hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
