Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 1359 p4p, 1219 weight class) and Frederick Zwirn (ranked 188 p4p, 171 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frederick Zwirn!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zwirn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Zwirn gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Anderson.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Zwirn just misses with a elbow thrown towards Anderson's brow.
Zwirn throws an elbow that misses.
Zwirn misses with an elbow strike.
Anderson avoids a wild elbow strike from Zwirn.
Zwirn prevents the takedown attempt.
Zwirn creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Zwirn has Anderson pressed against the cage, preventing Anderson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Zwirn is pressed up against the cage. Anderson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Zwirn down to the mat. Zwirn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Anderson has Zwirn pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Zwirn manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Anderson has hold of one of Zwirn's legs. Zwirn is fighting the takedown attempt but Anderson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Anderson is pushing down on Zwirn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zwirn is fighting to maintain full guard but Anderson has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zwirn is positioning himself well to prevent Anderson advancing to mount.

Anderson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Anderson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Zwirn for as long as he can get away with.
Zwirn stops Anderson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Zwirn is controlling an arm, preventing Anderson from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Anderson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Zwirn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Zwirn shrugs it off.
Zwirn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Anderson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Zwirn because Anderson loaded up on that one.
Zwirn tries to hold on but Anderson pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Anderson wants to take his opponent's back but Zwirn doesn't allow it.
Zwirn is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sparky Anderson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Zwirn is looking to clinch but Anderson is avoiding it.
Zwirn uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Anderson has time to react.
Zwirn misses with a hook.
Zwirn looks to land a left hand but Anderson moved out of range nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zwirn connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Anderson's hands.
Oh Anderson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Anderson moves into the clinch.
Anderson seems to have got his legs back now.

Anderson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Anderson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Anderson passes Zwirn's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Anderson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Zwirn is trying to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Anderson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Anderson is working for an americana but Zwirn has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Anderson was thinking about the submission.
Anderson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Anderson passes Zwirn's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Zwirn is trying to maintain the position but Anderson is very close to passing his half guard.
Zwirn felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Anderson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Anderson wants to control but Zwirn is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zwirn throws a lazy right hand but Anderson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zwirn wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Zwirn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Zwirn wants it to stay on the feet.

Anderson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Frederick Zwirn seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Zwirn creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Anderson avoids the elbow strike from Zwirn, against the cage.
Anderson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Zwirn backwards.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sparky Anderson will probably get the nod.

Anderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Anderson is trying to drag Zwirn to the mat but Zwirn just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Anderson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Anderson is staying tight to Zwirn's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Anderson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Anderson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Zwirn struggling a bit here.

Zwirn is not content to let Anderson control the position.
Anderson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Anderson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Zwirn's shoulder. That is not cool.
Zwirn avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Anderson.
Anderson staying calm.
Sparky Anderson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zwirn can do to turn this around?

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
