Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Israel Adesanya (ranked 1700 p4p, 3475 weight class) and Mark Ceni (ranked 216 p4p, 407 weight class). Adesanya comes to the cage accompanied by Israel Adesanya Entrance Music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Ceni!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adesanya clinches with his opponent.
Ceni tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ceni can't break the clinch.

Adesanya breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ceni is defended easily by Adesanya.
Adesanya throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ceni dives in and grabs Adesanya's left leg, looking for a takedown. Adesanya pushes down on Ceni's head and hops out.
We've been told by Adesanya's head coaches at Hilo Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Israel Adesanya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Ceni.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adesanya closes the distance and pushes Ceni back into the cage.

Adesanya tries to bum rush Ceni with a series of wild strikes but Ceni uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ceni fails with the takedown.

Ceni shoots for a takedown but Adesanya saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Israel Adesanya is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Adesanya rushes Ceni and presses him up against the cage.

Adesanya pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Adesanya lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Ceni on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Adesanya throws a combination. Ceni tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Adesanya lands a head kick. Ceni smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Adesanya fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ceni looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Ceni misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Adesanya tries to clinch but Ceni moves out of range.
Adesanya dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Adesanya goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Adesanya lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ceni at a distance.

Ceni dives in and grabs Adesanya's left leg, looking for a takedown. Adesanya pushes down on Ceni's head and hops out.
Adesanya throws a one two combo.
Ceni takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Ceni is rocked!
Adesanya lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

In his post fight interview, Israel Adesanya started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
