PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Albert White (ranked 2848 p4p, 2181 weight class) and Kron Gracie (ranked 391 p4p, 314 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Albert White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kron Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Albert White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
White stuns Gracie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gracie has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
White keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
White is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gracie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from White.
Gracie throws a body shot but no joy.
White changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

White closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - White lands in his opponent's guard.
White controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

White tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
White is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
White postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
White wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead White passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is looking for a sweep.
White tries to advance to mount but can't.

White looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked White off and has taken his back!
Gracie trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Gracie doesn't have the hooks in and White manages to turn into his guard.

White chips away with some ground and pound.
White landing with the ground and pound.
Gracie looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
White is working Gracie over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gracie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! White escapes and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control!
White lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gracie down.
White creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
White landing strikes.
Gracie gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

White working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. White lands a nice short elbow.

White trying to control from Gracie's half guard. Gracie has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
White trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
White is really struggling to control Gracie but he's trying to hold on to the position.
White postures up and lands a big shot to Gracie's brow.

That's time! Back to the action!

White fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
White misses with a jab to the body
and Gracie counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

White gets caught napping as Gracie dives in and scores a takedown. White manages to retain guard.

White has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.
White is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

White is keen to just control but Gracie is a slippery customer.
Gracie wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.
Gracie wants to control but White is keeping busy.

Gracie sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Gracie trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

White is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gracie throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

White avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gracie throwing strikes but missing.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted.

Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gracie is taking a breather. White says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
White slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Gracie wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
White seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

A close second round but Kron Gracie will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

White looks up at the clock and then as Gracie takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, White smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Gracie wants to control but White postures up.

White is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?

White cracks Gracie with a big right hand but Gracie just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Gracie controlling the position well here. White rolled but Gracie kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
You can see the frustration on White's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gracie doesn't have the hooks in and White manages to turn into his guard.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and White defends well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

White is looking to advance position but Gracie won't allow it.

Gracie tries to regain full guard. Instead though, White has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
