Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Feynman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Mendez! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Feynman defends well and Mendez ends up having to push Feynman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Feynman scores with a jab to the jaw. Mendez throws an off balance right hand
and Feynman counters with a lovely straight right hand! Feynman has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Monkey Magic in the buildup to the fight. Mendez slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Feynman misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mendez.
Feynman throws a hook but Mendez avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez misses with a body shot
and Feynman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Feynman misses with a hook to the body
and Mendez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Richard Feynman has been cut. Mendez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Feynman connects with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Feynman works Mendez's body with a nice hook. Feynman jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Feynman lands a big uppercut and Mendez crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Mendez looks OK. Feynman waves Mendez back to his feet! Mendez misses with a takedown and Feynman counters with a big right hand! Oh Mendez is in trouble here! Feynman follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
