Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Cortez (ranked 2107 p4p, 1358 weight class) and Ghengis Khan (ranked 80 p4p, 54 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ghengis Khan enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Ghengis Khan!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez throws a shot from downtown. Khan moves away and avoids it.
Cortez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at kill or be killed F boring Fights in the buildup to the fight.
Khan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cortez.

Khan misses with an uppercut.
Cortez walks into a jab.
Ghengis Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan throws out a powerful jab.
Khan lands a head shot.
Khan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cortez's hands.
Khan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

It looks like Ghengis Khan has been cut.
Cortez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A jab from Khan finds it's way through Cortez's defenses.
Khan has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Khan swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Cortez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cortez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Cortez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Khan throws a hook to the side of Cortez's head but Cortez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cortez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Cortez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Khan.
Khan lands the left hand.
Khan misses with a body shot.
Ghengis Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Khan missing with a left hand there. Cortez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
It looked like Cortez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Khan connects with the punch.
Khan has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cortez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Khan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Cortez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Khan's half guard.

Cortez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Cortez is looking for a kimura but Khan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cortez to get the leverage.

Cortez moves out of range of the strikes.
Cortez takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Khan looks to land a right hand but Cortez moved out of range.
Khan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Khan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cortez.
Cortez fails with a takedown attempt.
Cortez misses with a straight right.
Khan misses with a wild body shot.
Nice uppercut lands for Khan. That snapped Cortez's head back.
Khan misses with a looping left.
Khan is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cortez had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Khan misses with an uppercut. Cortez saw that one coming.
Cortez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khan is fending him off so far but Cortez persists. Nope, Khan circles away and we're back to standing.

Khan jabbing away but nothing is landing.

and Cortez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cortez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khan keeps working.
Cortez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Cortez passes to side control.
Khan takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Cortez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Khan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cortez but great work by Khan.
Cortez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Khan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


A momentary lapse in concentration from Khan enables Cortez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Khan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cortez wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.
Cortez throws a big right hand that misses.
Khan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cortez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Khan is keeping the position for now.
Cortez connects with a couple of short punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan keeping moving, preventing Cortez from controlling successfully.
Cortez pushes down on Khan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Don Cortez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Khan is looking to control Cortez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Khan avoid being mounted?

Cortez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khan keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cortez is trying to control the action in half guard but Khan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Khan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cortez was well out of range. Poor timing from Khan.
A little feinted left hand from Cortez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Cortez looks to land a right hand but Khan moved out of range.
Khan lands a jab.

Cortez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cortez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cortez drops an elbow to the side of Khan's head.

Cortez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Khan defends it well.
Khan is looking for a sweep. Cortez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cortez is trying to control. Khan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cortez with the ground and pound but Khan uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Cortez works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cortez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khan keeps working.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Cortez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cortez looks to land a combination but Khan avoids it well.

Cortez feints and as Khan raises his hands in defense, Cortez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cortez wants to pass the guard but Khan is keeping the position.
Cortez trying to control the position from guard on top but Khan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cortez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cortez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cortez wants to sweep here but Khan controlling him for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Cortez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Khan as he jumps to the side.
Cortez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Khan.
Cortez drops his hands momentarily and Khan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Khan scores with a jab. Cortez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Khan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Cortez throws a looping overhand right but Khan ducks down to avoid it.
Cortez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Khan jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A big left from Khan misses.
Cortez is looking for a counter combo.
Cortez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cortez.

Cortez slips under a jab from Khan.
Khan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cortez moves away.
Cortez lands a two punch combo.
Khan cracks Cortez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Cortez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Khan dodges the punch combination from Cortez.
Khan throws a jab but it's blocked by Cortez.
Khan smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Khan swings for the body but Cortez moves out of range.
Cortez appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Khan lands a jab to the head.
A punch lands to the side of Cortez 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Khan has Cortez up against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cortez is looking to take this one to the mat.
Khan is pressed up against the cage. Cortez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Khan down to the mat. Khan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Cortez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Khan tests Cortez's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Cortez walks into a jab.
Cortez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Khan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Khan misses with a wild body shot.
Nice uppercut there from Cortez.
Khan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cortez moves away.
Khan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cortez on the side of the head.
Ghengis Khan seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Khan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cortez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Khan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cortez manages to avoid it.
An attempted straight right counter from Cortez misses the target.
Cortez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Khan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice uppercut there from Cortez.
Cortez needs to keep his hands up - Khan had a free shot at his head there.
Cortez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khan but Khan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A big left from Khan misses.
Nice jab there from Cortez.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ghengis Khan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Khan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
