The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Takeda dives in and scores a takedown into Dubberly's guard. Takeda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dubberly swivels though and keeps the full guard. Takeda wants to control from the top but Dubberly keeps moving. Dubberly is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Takeda content to stall in guard here. Takeda tries to free his leg and advance position but Dubberly is retaining full guard.

He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Takeda wants to pass the guard but Dubberly is keeping the position. Dubberly trying to control the position.
