The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Tijhoff closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Boganda to the mat! Boganda manages to get full guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Tijhoff (2) vs (0) Boganda Boganda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tijhoff gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Boganda trying to keep a closed guard but Tijhoff is proving a slippery customer.
Tijhoff got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boganda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tijhoff has managed to get both his arms back between Boganda's legs - danger averted. Tijhoff trying to control the position from guard on top but Boganda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boganda is staying active underneath Tijhoff, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Boganda has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tijhoff stopping the sweep attempt from Boganda. Boganda controls Tijhoff momentarily but Tijhoff frees himself.

You can't force these things though and Tijhoff defends well. Tijhoff sitting in guard, not really doing much. Boganda wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Boganda keeping moving, preventing Tijhoff from controlling successfully. Boganda working for a triangle but Tijhoff defends it easily.
