Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Craig Thornton (ranked 4794 p4p, 3009 weight class) and Pasha Geits (ranked 494 p4p, 367 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Craig Thornton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pasha Geits!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Geits, as that shot connected.
A swing and a miss from Thornton.
Geits ducks under a wild hook from Thornton.
Thornton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Geits was well out of range. Poor timing from Thornton.
Geits moves out of range of the leg kick from Thornton.
Thornton throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Geits on the side of the head.
Geits shoots for a double leg takedown but Thornton sprawls well. He's pushed Geits's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Thornton misses the target.
Geits changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Thornton throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Geits sees it coming and avoids it easily.
It seemed like Geits was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Geits was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Thornton leaves Geits with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Geits has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters circle momentarily. Thornton darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Craig Thornton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pasha Geits.

Thornton bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Geits tries to close the distance and clinch but Thornton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Geits takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Thornton feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Geitss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Geits shoots in but Thornton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Thornton smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Geits tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Geits takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Thornton lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Geits backs up against the cage.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thornton lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Geits has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Geits and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
