PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between max damage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shicko Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). damage kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is yes. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, max damage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shicko Boom!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom thumps damage with a low kick.
Boom shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Boom feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
damage is looking to sweep but instead, Boom has passed into half guard.
damage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
damage wants to control but Boom is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Boom tries to stand but can't do so whilst damage controls his leg.
damage tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Boom is looking to clinch.
Boom throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around damage's waist but damage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boom off to one side.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Boom has managed to clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Boom.
Boom blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Boom leaning his opponent against the cage.
damage misses with a short punch on the inside.
damage is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Boom gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Boom jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as damage walks away with a smile on his face. Boom gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

damage shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than damage was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
damage lands a big shot there that rocks Boom but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
damage wants to control the pace but Boom is squirming around nicely.

damage throwing strikes here but Boom is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
damage connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Boom tries to hold on but damage pushes him away.
Boom might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control damage kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boom takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Boom tries to hold on but damage pushes him away.

damage lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
damage in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
damage fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
damage is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Boom can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Boom slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
damage wants to free his trapped foot but Boom is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Boom is pressing down on damage's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
damage working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
damage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
damage chips away with some ground and pound.
damage postures up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as damage accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells damage's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Boom pulls damage in to control the position.
Boom is trying to keep damage in close.
damage lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Boom is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
damage postures up and lands a big shot to Boom's brow.
damage has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
damage lands a couple of elbows.

damage stands up and waves to Boom to follow him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
damage ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boom has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from damage finds it's way round the side to connect with Boom's head.
Boom shoots for a takedown but damage saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Boom rushes damage and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Boom breaks the clinch.
A jab from damage does it's job there.
damage scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Boom is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Boom shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts damage as he jumps to the side.

and Boom counters by moving into the clinch.
damage has Boom pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Boom manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
damage wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
damage lands a hook to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
damage wants to break the clinch but can't.

Boom breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
damage lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Boom shoots in and drives through. damage sprawls well.
max damage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shicko Boom.

Boom shoots in but damage avoids the takedown attempt easily.
damage tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Boom swivels and escapes.
damage looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Boom is fending him off so far but damage persists. Nope, Boom circles away and we're back to standing.
Boom moves in looking to clinch but damage pushes him off.

damage wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Boom has him pressed against the cage.
Boom gets underhooks to prevent damage's takedown attempt.
damage is pressed up against the cage. Boom has hold of a leg and is looking to drag damage down to the mat. damage avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
damage throws a series of punches but Boom moves out of range.
damage throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Boom will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
damage shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Boom swats away the attempt to clinch by damage.
Boom throws a shot to the body.
Boom shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts damage as he jumps to the side.

damage scores with a sloppy right hand. Boom should have avoided that one.
A slow jab from damage misses its intended target.
Boom throws a sloppy head kick and damage moves out of range easily.
damage stuffs the takedown attempt from Boom. Boom gets slowly back to his feet.
damage tries to bum rush Boom with a series of wild strikes but Boom uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
damage catches Boom with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Boom takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Boom shoots in looking for a takedown. damage tries to sprawl out of it but Boom keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. damage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Boom checks a low kick from damage.

damage closes the distance looking to clinch
and Boom counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
damage is looking to clinch but Boom is avoiding it.
Horrible takedown by Boom or perhaps it was just good defense by damage which made him look bad.
Nice takedown defense from Boom. No joy for damage on that attempt.
Boom shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has damage pinned against the cage. damage gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boom changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. damage tries to avoid it but Boom manages to keep hold of a leg and drag damage to the ground. damage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


damage scores with a jab. Boom acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Boom misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Boom fails to land the takedown.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Boom.
damage shoots in and drives through. Boom sprawls well.
max damage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
damage scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
damage scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
damage stuns Boom with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Some wild striking there from damage.
damage fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boom shoots in but no luck this time.
max damage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shicko Boom.

damage gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boom drops down looking for an ankle pick but damage pulls his leg out and moves away.
damage throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boom stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Boom shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has damage pinned against the cage. damage gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
damage looks to land a combination. Boom sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
damage lands with an overhand left.
A left and a right from damage both land. Nice combination.
damage tries to clinch there but Boom circles away.
damage tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

damage blocks a head kick by Boom.
damage bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
A lazy left from damage finds it's target.
damage throws a half hearted mid kick.
damage blocks a head kick by Boom.

damage shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boom's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Boom controls damage momentarily but damage frees himself.
damage postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

max damage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
damage throws a strike but Boom rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Boom controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
damage keeping full guard, as Boom tries to pass.
damage lands a decent shot there.
damage trying to strike off his back.
damage keeping moving, preventing Boom from controlling successfully.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

damage is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
max damage is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
damage keeps the fight on the outside.
Boom stuffs the takedown attempt from damage. damage gets slowly back to his feet.
damage throws a nice looking combination but Boom bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Boom has damage up against the cage in a clinch.
Boom blocking some punches.
Shicko Boom has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boom looking to stall.

And that's the end of the fight!
max damage showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for damage, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
