The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lemieux wants to clinch up but Hanayama keeps it at a distance.
Lemieux misses with a right hand
and Hanayama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lemieux comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lemieux throws a sloppy body shot
and Hanayama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hanayama throws a jab but it's blocked by Lemieux.
Lemieux tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hanayama manages to circle out of the way.
Hanayama lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Hanayama cracks a nice hook into Lemieux's ribs.
Lemieux ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hanayama moves away.
Lemieux throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hanayama lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hanayama.

Lemieux has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Hanayama connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Lemieux is looking to wear down Hanayama with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Lemieux glances at the clock... BAM! Hanayama nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Lemieux crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Lemieux is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kaoru Hanayama!
Kaoru Hanayama decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
