Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aljosa Medeiros (ranked 2995 p4p, 3559 weight class) and Shinohara Sosuke (ranked 337 p4p, 388 weight class). Sosuke has chosen Samurai as his entrance music. Aljosa Medeiros has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aljosa Medeiros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinohara Sosuke!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosuke clinches with his opponent.
Sosuke's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Medeiros taking a breather.
Medeiros tries to throw a body punch but Sosuke avoids it by throwing Medeiros back against the cage.

Medeiros shoots in for a takedown but Sosuke shows good takedown defense.
Sosuke misses the shot to the body.

and Sosuke counters with a stiff right hand.
Sosuke throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Medeiros counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Medeiros gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Sosuke.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sosuke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Medeiros.
Medeiros takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sosuke misses with a jab to the body
and Medeiros counters with a straight right hand.

Medeiros lands a nice hook to Sosuke's body. Sosuke takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Sosuke throws a nice looking combination but Medeiros bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Medeiros manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sosuke on his heels. He'll look to pass Sosuke's guard now, I'm sure.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sosuke can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Medeiros wants to pass the guard but Sosuke is keeping the position.

Sosuke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Medeiros. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Medeiros throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sosuke works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Medeiros is working Sosuke over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Medeiros is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Sosuke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Medeiros trying to control but Sosuke is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sosuke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Medeiros stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sosuke loads up on a big right hand but Medeiros slips the punch.
Sosuke misses with a looping right.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sosuke lands a nice shot that snaps Medeiros's head back.
Sosuke misses the jab.
Sosuke stuffs the takedown.
Sosuke cracks Medeiros with a right hand to the side of the head.
Medeiros takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Medeiros takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Medeiros punishes Sosuke's body with a nice straight punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Medeiros scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Medeiros jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Medeiros uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sosuke.
Sosuke bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Medeiros's head backwards.
Medeiros shoots for a double leg takedown but Sosuke sprawls well. He's pushed Medeiros's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aljosa Medeiros. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Medeiros connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Medeiros shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sosuke pinned against the cage. Sosuke gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Medeiros shoots in and bounces Sosuke off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Sosuke wants to stand and escape but Medeiros is having none of it.
Medeiros throws a strike but Sosuke rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

We've been informed that Sosuke has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Aljosa Medeiros overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Medeiros not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Medeiros is really struggling to control Sosuke but he's trying to hold on to the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sosuke engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Medeiros pulls Sosuke in close to his closed guard and prevents Sosuke from doing any damage or advancing position.

Sosuke doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sosuke uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Medeiros.

Sosuke lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Medeiros is rocked!
Sosuke gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Oh Medeiros is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sosuke throws an overhand right that lands on Medeiros's shoulder, as Medeiros tries to avoid the shot.
Medeiros seems to have got his legs back now.
Nice straight punches there by Sosuke. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sosuke.
Sosuke tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sosuke misses with a body shot.
Sosuke throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Medeiros sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Sosuke lands a big right hand that sends Medeiros crashing to the mat! Sosuke stays standing though and waves Medeiros back to his feet!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shinohara Sosuke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Medeiros lands a slapping body shot.

Sosuke cracks Medeiros with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sosuke has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Medeiros to stand back up!
Sosuke lands with an overhand left.
Shinohara Sosuke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Medeiros misses with a jab to the body
and Sosuke counters with a huge left! Medeiros is in big trouble! He's backing up but Sosuke isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Medeiros from any more damage. A dominating finish by Sosuke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shinohara Sosuke!
