Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Cooper (ranked 1662 p4p, 1683 weight class) and Mike Carpenter (ranked 63 p4p, 65 weight class). The key to victory for Matt Cooper has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Cooper lands an impressive looking overhand right. Carpenter doesn't seem phased though.
Cooper has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Cooper defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carpenter.
Carpenter takes one to the side of the head.
Carpenter closes the distance but Cooper moves to the side
and Cooper counters with a straight right hand.

Carpenter takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Carpenter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carpenter lands in his opponent's guard.
Cooper wants to stand up but Carpenter is controlling him.

Cooper manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Carpenter misses with the combination.
Carpenter tries to close the distance and clinch but Cooper swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Carpenter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cooper is fending him off so far but Carpenter persists. Nope, Cooper circles away and we're back to standing.
Matt Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Carpenter.

Carpenter gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cooper sizes up Carpenter with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carpenter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Carpenter throws a hook to the side of Cooper's head but Cooper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Mike Carpenter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carpenter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Carpenter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cooper sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carpenter somewhat.

Cooper throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Carpenter on the side of the head.
Carpenter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cooper but Cooper pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carpenter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cooper is trying to defend but Carpenter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper has one foot on Carpenter's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Carpenter has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

and Cooper counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Carpenter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Cooper counters with a three punch combo that has Carpenter backing up. Carpenter nods at Cooper to acknowledge the strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carpenter wants to clinch up but Cooper keeps it at a distance.
Carpenter takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Cooper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carpenter is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Cooper thuds his right hand into Carpenter's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cooper lands an elbow just above Carpenter 's eye.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cooper takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Cooper pushes Carpenter back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Carpenter's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Cooper pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cooper pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Carpenter back to the cage. Cooper follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cooper darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Carpenter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cooper makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Cooper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cooper wants it to stay on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Carpenter takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like Matt Cooper has been cut.
Cooper throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Cooper lands a jab-cross combination.
Carpenter has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cooper.

Cooper lands a left and a right that send Carpenter crashing to the mat, dazed. Cooper thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Carpenter is still on wobbly legs! Can Cooper finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carpenter get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Carpenter stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Cooper runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Matt Cooper!
