PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Sight (ranked 709 p4p, 832 weight class) and Jan Koblav (ranked 111 p4p, 134 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 34 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Sight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Koblav!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koblav gets a double leg takedown into Sight's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Koblav has gone for a leg lock! Sight slips out almost immediately though and dives into Koblav's guard.

Sight wants to get up but he can't break Koblav's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Koblav looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Koblav has his foot on Sight's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sight works his way back into a safe position though.

Koblav working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sight doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sight manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Koblav escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sight gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Koblav is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Koblav is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sight to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sight shrugs it off.

Koblav with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Koblav looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Koblav moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Sight has worked his arm free - good work by Sight!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A decent looking cross lands there for Sight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sight goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sight throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Koblav.
A telegraphed right hand from Sight misses the target.
No joy there for Sight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Koblav bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Koblav feints and as Sight raises his hands in defense, Koblav changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Koblav is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Koblav has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Deep waters. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Koblav throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sight's waist but Sight gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Koblav off to one side.

Sight lands with a right and another and another! Koblav is in big trouble! Sight lands again and this time it's lights out for Koblav! A quality knockout there for Sight.
