The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shifter tries to keep at a distance but Jackson has taken the fight into the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jackson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Shifter has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jackson regains guard immediately.

Jackson is pulling down on Shifter's head. It's preventing any offense from Shifter, at least for the moment.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Shifter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Shifter slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shifter is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shifter.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jackson is defending against the submission attempts here by Shifter.

Shifter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Jackson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shifter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Shifter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shifter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Shifter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kill Shot Jackson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Shifter moves out of range easily.

Jackson moves into the clinch.

Shifter gets control of Jackson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shifter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
