Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Peterson (ranked 206 p4p, 344 weight class) and Edison Atunes (ranked 28 p4p, 54 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 26 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dylan Peterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 30 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edison Atunes! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Atunes gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Peterson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Atunes moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Atunes shapes to counter with a head kick. Peterson throws a poor cross that misses
and Atunes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Peterson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Atunes. Atunes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Peterson. Atunes looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Peterson sizes up Atunes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Atunes misses with a body kick. Atunes takes one to the chin there. Peterson misses with a hook
and Atunes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Atunes misses with a wild body shot. Atunes just misses with a punch to the body.
Peterson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Atunes counters with a straight right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Atunes stuffs the takedown attempt from Peterson. Peterson gets slowly back to his feet. Atunes wants to counter the offense by Peterson and move into the clinch position. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dylan Peterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Atunes slips a jab from Peterson. Nice uppercut there from Peterson. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Peterson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A decent looking cross lands there for Peterson. Peterson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Peterson misses with a shot to the body and Atunes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Atunes gets caught flat footed, as Peterson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Peterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Peterson is looking to work some ground and pound but Atunes has wrist control. Peterson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Atunes is keeping the position for now.

Peterson working some strikes from top position. Peterson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Atunes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Peterson throwing strikes but missing. Peterson wants to control from the top but Atunes keeps moving. Peterson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Peterson throws a big right hand that misses. Atunes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peterson. We've been hearing that Peterson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Atunes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Atunes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Atunes avoids a punch combination nicely.
Peterson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Atunes to the ground. Peterson is now in Atunes's guard. Atunes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Peterson with a nice head shot there. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dylan Peterson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Peterson's corner calls for a 1-2. Peterson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Nice defenses there by Atunes. Peterson scores with a nice right hand.
Atunes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Atunes takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Atunes scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Atunes moves out of range of the strikes. Atunes slips a jab from Peterson. Peterson throws a body shot but no joy. Peterson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Atunes can do to turn this around? Peterson throws out a loose jab but Atunes uses good head movement to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Atunes moves away from the strike by Peterson. Atunes looks like he wants to counter punch here. Atunes stuns Peterson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Peterson takes a swing at Atunes's ribcage but misses. Peterson throws an off balance right hand

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Peterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Atunes swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dylan Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peterson sizes up Atunes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Peterson seems to have got his legs back now. Atunes misses with a wild body shot. Great action here. Peterson connects with the punch. The fighters circle momentarily. Peterson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Peterson avoids the head kick by Atunes.

Peterson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Atunes felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Peterson working over Atunes with some ground and pound. Atunes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. And that is the end of the round. Edison Atunes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Atunes tries a head kick but it misses.
