The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Decent striking displayed by James there. James tries to sprawl but Jr drives through with a takedown into half guard. James looking for a kimura from the bottom but Jr passes into side control! Jr prevents James from escaping the position. Jr just content to control the position. James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jr on the ground. Jr is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. James knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Jr might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. James is looking for a sweep. Jr working away. Jr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there. James wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. James seems a little lost for a moment, as Jr dominates the positioning. Jr is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. James looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jr gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. James is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jr lets go of the hold and James can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). George Jr!
