Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Damon Hektor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dustin Jackson! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hektor tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it. Hektor shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hektor on the wrong end of a nice jab. No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hektor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily. Jackson looks to score with a jab to the body but Hektor is just out of range. Hektor fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Hektor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Hektor sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hektor misses with a takedown attempt and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jackson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hektor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hektor keeping full guard, as Jackson tries to pass. Hektor is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hektor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hektor is tightening it up a little... Jackson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jackson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jackson taps out! nice BJJ there by Hektor!
