Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 3371 p4p, 5359 weight class) and Pablo Santana (ranked 450 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Santana! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Santana manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Silva looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Santana gets a double leg takedown into Silva's guard. Santana is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Silva seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Santana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silva is keeping the position for now. Santana advances to half guard. Santana content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santana perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Santana lands strikes from half guard. Santana trying to control the pace. It looks like Santana might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana moves into range and clinches up with Silva. Santana breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Santana circles away from the clinch attempt and Santana counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Santana tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Silva. Santana is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Santana in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Silva tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Santana!
